Rapid tests at Heathrow for Italy and Hong Kong

Rapid one-hour tests are now available at Heathrow airport for those travelling to Italy and Hong Kong. Both countries require a negative coronavirus test before anyone is allowed in. Passengers will be able to take a coronavirus test at the airport and have their results in just one hour.

From today, 20th October 2020, passengers will be able to book the private test online for £80.

Known as 'LAMP' test, they will be carried out at Terminal 2 and Terminal 5, and are quicker to process than PCR test as they don't require to be sent off to a lab.

Airport bosses have said they will expand in the coming weeks but did not mention if other countries will be added to the scheme.

Heathrow's chief executive John Holland-Kaye said: "These facilities will make it easier for passengers going to those countries to get a test and have the potential to provide a service for arriving passengers.
